Job Details

The Starting Well partnership brings together Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Barnardo’s, Action for Children, and Redditch Borough Council and aims to deliver a new countywide model which reflects a change in how we support local children, young people, and families in our county. We look to improve access to early help and support, will empower local communities, and will help make Worcestershire a great place to grow up, to learn, develop and maximise potential.

Healthy development in early years is critical to the wellbeing of children later in life.  Recent research shows the number of children starting school without basic developmental skills is currently at a record high, exacerbated by Covi-19.  Additional investment to support school readiness means we can create additional community health connector activity to promote early language acquisition through community initiatives and engaging with families to support the home learning environment. The following posts will provide an excellent and exciting opportunity to join a team in developing services that will make a real difference to the lives of children, young people, and their families. 

Community Health Connector, x2 37 hour posts, Grade 3 (£19,312 - £20,903), Fixed Term until 30/09/2023

The post holders will support families by ensuring they are aware of the Early Help services available locally within their community and improve access and provision of information and advice linked to targets and high impact areas, including childcare, early education benefits and NEF (nursery education funding), early years provision for children. The role will be expected to support any Community capacity building activities to promote home learning and school readiness. They will work to increase the number of volunteers, influencers and peer supporters and increase the promotion of self-help and community support groups.  They will work closely with health colleagues to ensure those children and families who require additional pre-school support are aware of and are accessing the services available.
