The Starting Well partnership brings together Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Barnardo’s, Action for Children, and Redditch Borough Council and aims to deliver a new countywide model which reflects a change in how we support local children, young people, and families in our county. We look to improve access to early help and support, will empower local communities, and will help make Worcestershire a great place to grow up, to learn, develop and maximise potential.

Additional investment has been made to support expectant and new mothers and their families within their own communities by recruiting, training, and supporting a network of volunteer peer supporters to work alongside community health connectors.  There will be a focus on supporting families from conception to age 2. The following posts will provide an excellent and exciting opportunity to join a team in developing services that will make a real difference to the lives of children, young people, and their families.

Community Health Connector – x2 18.5 hour posts, Grade 3, £19,312 - £20,903, Fixed Term until 31/03/2024

The post holders for the Community Health Connector roles will support the Peer Supporters to develop support groups as needed within the community and ensuring they are aware of the Early Help services available locally within their community to signpost families to. The role will be expected to support any Community capacity building activities to encourage and enable parents to build their own local support networks. They will support the Peer Support and Volunteer Co-Ordinator to increase the number of peer supporters and increase the promotion of self-help and community support groups.  They will work closely with health colleagues and peer supporters to support the best start in life for babies and children of vulnerable parents during the first 1001 days.

Are you experienced at working with children and families?

Are you innovative and enthusiastic with a positive ‘can do’ attitude?

Do you care about the community and want to make a difference?

Are you good at speaking to people and have the skills to support families with a range of issues?
