About Us and the Role

We have a superb opportunity for two experienced internal auditors to join Warwickshire County Council’s Internal Audit Service.

The Internal Audit team delivers a comprehensive service to the County Council and external clients which an external quality assessment has confirmed as meeting the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. With a forward-thinking approach to supporting and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes, working for Warwickshire County Council Internal Audit presents you with the unique opportunity to make a difference, operating within a hugely diverse client base, from Fire and Rescue to various County Council services and Police Forces.

If you desire routine, predictability of workload and enjoy being immersed in the granular level detail, this will not be the right opportunity for you.

If you are ambitious, enjoy flexible working in an autonomous and proactive way, focus your attention on the big picture, all whilst creating and nurturing solid working and commercial relationships, then this role will be a great match.

Appointment will be to either Scale J (£29,577-£32,234) or Scale L (£34,728-£36,922) depending on your level of qualifications and experience.

The key roles are to improve the ability of our clients to deliver their vision and outcomes by assisting them to manage significant risks and acting as a catalyst for change, including:

  • Undertaking audits in accordance with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards that focus on key risks.
  • Undertaking investigations into alleged financial irregularities or issues where a client’s strategic or corporate interests are at stake.
  • Providing independent and objective advice and insight on new major systems, changes to existing working practices and major transformation projects.
  • Devising practical recommendations to improve our clients’ governance, risk management and control processes using a systematic, disciplined and risk-based approach.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
