This is a Fixed Term contract for 12 months or alternatively this can be a 12 month secondment for Walsall Council employees.

Walsall Council is transforming how it works. Developing technologies, customer expectations and external budget pressures mean we need to modernise and rethink how we deliver our services.

We are recruiting an ICT Programme & Project Officer to join our ICT Programme Management Office (PMO) Team, tasked with supporting the PMO function, whilst also delivering small/medium Projects and Services to ensure Walsall Council continues to have an ICT infrastructure fit for the future.

Working as a key member of the ICT PMO, the post holder will be responsible for successful design, planning and delivery of council wide technology, through small/medium change projects including:

  • Management of business case, project initiation and management of the key benefits realisation including efficiencies and savings.
  • Mobilise and manage appropriate technical and business resources to achieve agreed plans and milestones
  • Ensure project deliverables are achieved within time, cost and quality criteria, whilst managing project risks and issues.
  • Ensure alignment of deliverables from their tasks with the ICT portfolio of programmes and projects and also the wider corporate transformation programme initiatives.

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.  BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities.  A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
