The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. 

We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.  

We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning.  In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: 

  • Nursery Workers
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Leadership/Management; and 
  • Customer Care. 

We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop. 

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?

Coventry Adult Education Service is seeking a Data Administrator to join our small and very supportive Management Information Systems (MIS) team that administers the course and learner data for the service. 

The post holder must have previous experience of data administration. You will have fast, accurate keyboarding skills with an eye for detail and will undertake a variety of tasks including the following:

  • Setting up courses / timetables / registers on the MIS system
  • Ensuring our web-based enrolment system accurately reflects the courses offered
  • Processing enrolments and entering payments
  • Actioning requests for learner transfers / withdrawals / change of details
  • Adding completion data and outcomes for learners
  • Dealing with queries from learners and tutors 

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will be expected to use your initiative to deal with issues as and when they arise and be able to identify more complex issues that need to be escalated. 

For this position, experience of using ProSolution or similar software would be advantageous.

Please note that candidates must have a Level 2 English and Maths qualification (GCSE Grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2, or equivalent), together with previous experience of data input to be considered for this role.
