Are you a dynamic, passionate, motivated Senior ICT Technician looking for a position in an outstanding school full of well-behaved and hardworking pupils? We are looking to appoint a person to work alongside our existing ICT Support Team to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for our staff and pupils.

Selly Park Girls’ School is a high performing 11-16 school in the south of Birmingham with 760 girls on roll and a proven record of GCSE success. We are a successful, vibrant, happy and oversubscribed school. We consistently rank as one of the top 10 Local Authority schools in Birmingham in terms of student progress and have been rated as outstanding by Ofsted for a decade.

We have invested heavily in the school’s IT infrastructure in the last two years, with the installation of virtual servers and new devices across the school site and are looking to increase this further. We are forward thinking and always looking at ways to embrace and use technology to support students’ learning in school. The school has a number of exciting projects planned within IT and at the forefront of this we need a dynamic and adaptable person to help us meet these targets.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with fellow staff members in supporting the ICT needs of the school. We are seeking someone with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a broad knowledge of PC hardware, Microsoft software and IP network technologies. You'll be flexible, adaptable, proactive and have the ability to work as part of a team. Previous experience within a similar role working in a school environment would be beneficial but not essential. Your application should include evidence of your skills and competencies as detailed in the job description. If you believe that you have the necessary skills to fulfil this role effectively please complete the support staff application form on the school website. The appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS, medical clearance and suitable references will need to be provided.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to necessary pre-employment checks, including: an enhanced DBS; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work.  All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references.

Rehabilitation of offenders: This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. Which means that when applying for certain jobs and activities certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. Further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.
