Coventry City Council’s People & Culture Team sits within Human Resources (HR) and focuses on people, process and performance to deliver organisational transformation and cultural change through a range of organisational interventions.  We’re a high performing team who are leading on a number of key priorities across the organisation including: Employee Engagement, Values & Culture, Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Development, Corporate Learning & Development and Apprenticeships & Early Careers.

The newly formed Talent Development Team within People and Culture is responsible for overseeing the delivery of a range of Talent Development programmes aims at developing and retaining talent within the Council.

What is the job role?

Would you like to gain a Project Management qualification and a wide variety of experience in supporting the delivery of various Talent Development programmes? As a Project Support Assistant, you will provide project and administrative support to the Talent and Change Team, with a primary focus on graduate development initiatives and Positive Action programmes for underrepresented groups within the Council.

As a result, you will be required to maintain a sensitive and confidential approach to your work and deliver excellent project support. Key duties and areas of responsibility will include:

  • Undertaking a range of project support tasks to assist the Talent and Change Team
  • Assisting the Talent and Change Advisor with a variety of recruitment tasks linked to the Council’s graduate development programmes
  • Maintaining and updating information related to key Talent Development programmes, collating, analysing and presenting performance data and metrics
  • Supporting the development of training and other materials as required for project support
  • Working with the Talent and Change Lead and Advisor to promote the Council’s Talent Development offer internally and externally via the Intranet, live events and social media (where appropriate)
  • Undertaking research and benchmarking as required, to develop an understanding of the service
  • Working across a number of Talent Development programmes, a flexible workstyle will be required to meet the needs of the service, this may include variation to workload.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 20 months. Alongside your role you will also be supported to undertake a Level 4 Associate Project Management Apprenticeship.

Who are we looking for?

The Talent and Change Team are a small team that are passionate about supporting the Council’s workforce to develop and achieve their full potential, as well as helping to attract the next generation of talent.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of providing project and administrative support within a HR/OD/L&D environment
  • Has strong IT skills, including the ability to collate, analyse and present information
  • Has good interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with senior colleagues and external contacts
  • Has excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight schedules and deadlines
  • Is a self-starter, able to use their initiative to identify problems and propose solutions
  • Has an understanding of some of the barriers faced by people from underrepresented groups within the workplace.
