Job Details

The governors are very pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to appoint a Midday Activity Assistant to join our successful Nursery school.

We welcome applicants who can :-

  • Supervise activities and maintain the health, safety, welfare, good conduct and safeguarding of pupils during the midday break, having regard to special or additional needs.
  • Report incidents in line with school policy.
  • Assist in the supervision of other activities during the midday break, including setting out and storing equipment
  • Encourage pupils to select and eat healthy balanced meals
  • Clean up spillages of food or liquid during meal service
  • Wipe down tables and clean dining areas between meals
  • Undertake similar work at other times, such as before and after school.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the post.- be flexible according to need of the school. Could be required to cover absence.
  • The school is committed to safeguarding.  The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Key Requirements

  •       have some experience of early years children

Skills and Experience

  •       have experience of working with children within the age range 2 -4year olds
  • can support the maintenance of positive links between home and school by working with parents as partners, understanding and recording children’s dietary needs and behaviours
  • Can serve food and tidy away, ensuring excellent hygiene
  • Can help children to use a knife and fork and use manners
  • Can prepare a daily healthy fruit snack
  • Can support maintaining the areas of learning in the EYFS in the learning environment- setting up the environment for lunch times and putting back into a learning environment after lunch
  • will actively participate in opportunities for professional development
  • will support in a team approach other adults, including students, parents, governors, external agencies
  • will support the maintenance and development of effective partnership working, all year transition / induction between ourselves and surrounding schools and PVI nursery settings within Treehouse Children’s Centre and others locally
