Dudley Academies Trust

DIRECTOR OF ENGLISH (READING)

£56,721.00 to £61,166.00 per annum (L13 to L17)

Dudley Academies Trust was formed in September 2017 under the sponsorship of Dudley College of Technology.  Our Trust schools are St James Academy, The Link Academy, Pegasus Academy, Beacon Hill Academy and Blowers Green Primary Academy.  The Trust, when combined with the sponsor, annually supports 8,500 young people aged 4 to 19 years old and employs almost 1,300 staff.

Dudley Academies Trust is seeking to appoint a Director of English/Reading to join the Trust’s central team of Directors and subject coaches.

This exciting leadership opportunity will require the postholder to work in a high profile position to further develop and implement the Trust’s reading strategy. In addition, the Director will work with a team of highly skilled practitioners to ensure that all learners are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential in English. Integral to this will be a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning in English, thus enabling all of our academies to further raise levels of both attainment and progress.

The post holder will need to interact on a professional level with a wide range of colleagues in order to establish and maintain positive and productive relationships. This post is an incredibly exciting leadership opportunity; the successful candidate will have a significant amount of influence and play a lead role in developing best practice and providing excellent provision for a large number of young people.

You will have a proven track record of highly effective leadership, which has resulted in improved outcomes.  You will be an outstanding role model, capable of inspiring others to aim for the highest standards in teaching and learning practice.  You will provide high quality assessment of teaching and learning across the Trust, incorporating constructive feedback that will assist teachers to achieve exemplary levels of performance. You will also work with teaching staff in a trainer or mentor capacity to develop their teaching and share good practice.

The Trust recognises that our staff are our most valuable asset and investing in our people is a key strategic priority for the Trust. A common and extensive programme of staff development operates across the Trust, this is extended to senior and middle leaders, aspiring leaders, teaching and support staff and non-qualified teachers.

Closing date: Midday on Friday 28th January 2022. We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the date advertised.

All successful applicants will need to undertake an enhanced disclosure and barring service check and children and adults barred list checks, where the applicant will be employed in a regulated activity.

Dudley Academies Trust is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including disabled, and black and ethnic minority applicants.
