Do you have experience with special educational needs and are seeking a new challenge and responsibility in 2022?

In Solihull we are committed to improving the lives of Children and Young People with SEND and are looking for a dedicated EHCP Caseworker to join our EHCP Service.

As an EHCP Caseworker you will:

  • work alongside and proactively assist, the EHCP Officers to provide comprehensive casework and frontline support for a caseload of children and young people with special educational needs.
  • administer and collate information from a number of partner services in line with the local authority’s legal duties and working processes.
  • create and maintain records that support the team to manage workloads. The EHCP Officers will retain overall responsibility for each case.
  • Provide monthly data to support the meeting of statutory timescales

You will either have previous experience working in an EHCP administrative role OR experience of working with children or young people with SEND (or their families) in a social care, educational or voluntary setting.

You will also need:

  • Some knowledge of working to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice and Statutory SEN processes.
  • Experience of using data bases and Microsoft Office Packages, including Excel, Word and Outlook (or equivalent).
  • Effective organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise own workload, meet targets and tight deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • The ability to communicate complex and sensitive information with parents/ carers and young people, showing empathy particularly in times of challenge.

Within this fascinating and rewarding role you will work under the guidance and direction of the EHCP Service Manager and in line with agreed departmental standards and procedures.

You will be joining a positive, forward-thinking team where service to support the children of Solihull with SEN is paramount.

This role is based at Solihull Council House and under our hybrid model of working will be based in the office Monday-Wednesday and work from home Thursday and Friday.

This is a full time post, however, requests for working on a job-share basis would be considered.
