Worcestershire Archaeology, part of the Archive and Archaeology Service
Project Officers wanted to join our innovative and friendly field and post-excavation team!

The role:

‘Worcestershire Archaeology undertakes works to the very highest of standards. They are an exemplar of good practice, from management to field team.’

If this sounds like the type of organisation you’d like to work for, we are looking for Project Officers to join our core team and help us meet the high demand there is for our commercial services (www.explorethepast.co.uk/services/worcestershire-archaeology/).

We operate on a wide range of projects across the West Midlands and beyond and have a proven track record of delivering high quality fieldwork for our clients for over 40 years. These posts provide a great opportunity to develop your career in an innovative and friendly environment in which we aim to support staff in maintaining a good work/life balance - Worcester's a great place to live and with only about 5% of our projects being away jobs you'll get plenty of time to enjoy making your home here. We are based at The Hive (www.thehiveworcester.org), an award winning building in the centre of Worcester providing a unique library, archive and archaeological service under one roof.

Our Project Officers receive:

• £27,741 rising to £29,577 pa (pay award pending)
• Fully paid travel time to all sites
• Local Government contributory pension scheme
• 37 hours per week (plus regular opportunities for overtime)
• 33 days holiday pa (including statutory holidays), rising to 38 after 5 years
• Paid accommodation and subsistence for away work
• Paid CIfA membership and supported attendance at conferences
• A review and development scheme which has underpinned our proven track record of training, retaining and promoting our staff
• Wages that meet or exceed CIfA minima.

Although seeking candidates with experience of leading fieldwork and report writing, we will also be seeking to fill one of these posts with somebody interested in developing a career in post-excavation. This post will provide support to our Senior Post-Excavation Manager in delivering post-fieldwork programmes from assessment through to archiving, and also in co-ordinating and integrating specialist work programmes. Demonstrable experience of delivering reports and working with a range of specialists to produce reports on time and to budget will therefore be required.
