St Thomas Aquinas is a large and thriving 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school where staff and students from all faiths live out the school mission and every member of the community feels valued and engaged.

In November 2018 the school was judged to be GOOD by OFSTED.

The school requires an enthusiastic, experienced and hardworking Examinations Officer to join the Assessment Team as soon as possible.

It is an exciting time to join St Thomas Aquinas School, as we became part of the Lumen Christi Catholic Multi Academy on the 1 April 2015. This links us with six of our Catholic Primary Feeder Schools and brings real opportunities for collaborative teaching and learning.

The examinations officer is responsible for the organisation and smooth running of both internal and external examinations. The officer acts as the primary liaison between the school and the external examination bodies.

They will be familiar with the requirements and regulations placed on schools by both awarding bodies and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and will ensure that the school is compliant with these before, during and after examination periods.

They will:

• support the SLT (Examinations) in ensuring that the school is compliant with the JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements to always ensure the security and integrity of examinations/assessments

• to act on behalf of, and be the main point of contact for, the school in matters relating to the general administration of examinations and assessments

• to closely liaise with key stakeholders (external and internal) to ensure the examination administration processes are strictly followed, and key deadlines met

• to ensure examinations are conducted in accordance with the regulations

• they will also be Sixth Form Administrator and work alongside the sixth form team – see job description for further responsibilities linked to this area of the post

The successful candidate will work with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Faculties, and teaching staff.

Management and recruitment of the Invigilator Team will also be their responsibility.

They will have good administrative skills, computer literate and be highly efficient and organised. They will be articulate and able to deal sensitively with a variety of situations with teachers, examination invigilators, students, parents, and examination board representatives. The ability to be clear and assertive whilst remaining calm, composed, tactful and flexible is essential to the role.

It is expected that the post holder will be available to work during the summer holidays (within the two additional weeks specified) to prepare and manage results days and to help with analysis of data afterwards.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right person to work within the assessment team with a highly committed staff in a large and popular Catholic secondary school.
