St Mary’s CE Primary School and Nursery are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to play a key role as part of the Senior Leadership Team supporting St Mary’s CE Primary School and Nursery through a period of exciting development and change. We are looking for someone who can lead with kindness, warmth and enthusiasm, whilst maintaining high expectations and a drive for rapid and continuous improvement.

In collaboration with the Headteacher, the Deputy Headteacher will help develop a clear strategy for growth and will lead a strong focus on teaching and learning, SEND and Inclusion. They will play a leading role in the pastoral life of the school ensuring that all pupils can flourish and fulfil their potential.


The successful candidate will carry out some class teaching duties, as agreed with the Headteacher, providing a model of excellence for colleagues, and will undertake the role of Deputy DSL.

We are looking for someone:

who has proven leadership and management skills at a middle or senior level in an educational setting;

who can provide professional leadership and management which ensures the effective day-to-day organisation of curriculum and assessment and be the lead in ensuring a high quality of education for all pupils and continually improving standards of teaching and learning;

who can work in partnership with the Headteacher and other stakeholders to create a clear vision and direction for the school;

who will provide excellent models of classroom practice by maintaining an appropriate teaching commitment;

who has experience supporting colleagues to manage behaviour and develop inclusive classroom practice;

who has experience of managing Child Protection and Safeguarding issues;

who has the ability to inspire, challenge, motivate and empower teams and individuals to achieve excellence
