Job title: Senior Residential Worker

Salary: £28672- £32910 per annum pro rata (which includes 2SCP for unsociable hours) Plus, sleep in allowance £37.07/night when required

Location: The Alders, Tamworth

Contract & Working pattern: Permanent | Full time | 37 hours per week | Shifts consist of lates, earlies and sleep ins across an 8 week rota inclusive of weekends.

About The Alders

The Alders children’s home provides short/medium term care for up to 4 young people aged between 12 and 17 years, who may be admitted in an emergency.  The purpose of the home is to provide a safe and secure environment that promotes the welfare of looked after children, whilst working directly with young people to support them emotionally and physically to develop into positive role models.

The role

You will play a lead role in assisting the Registered Manager in ensuring that resident’s needs are facilitated according to Quality Care Standards for Children’s Homes 2015.  You’ll be finding solutions and dealing with operational difficulties, significant events and maintenance of systems and processes as required by Directorate Policy and Quality Standards for Children’s Homes. So, you’ll be great at working on your own initiative, managing a team of staff and you’ll have the ability to deal with sometimes emotionally demanding and challenging situations.

What you’ll bring

You’ll need to have:

- NVQ Level 3 or willingness to work towards level 4

Plus, ideally, you’ll be a warm, nurturing person who understands that young people need a fresh start. You may perhaps have experience of working with teenagers in Residential care previously.  You’ll also be passionate about supporting young people to move on in a positive direction.

Residential care is demanding and so you’ll need to be resilient and flexible in this role and in turn we’ll give you all the support you need to be successful.

Please note on occasion in residential care there is a need to only accept applicants from a particular protected characteristic. As per the exceptions under the Equality Act 2010 there is an occupational requirement for this role to be fulfilled by someone aged 21 years or over. The reason being that we are legally required to ensure that anyone appointed is at least 4 years older than our oldest resident.
