The Governors of Cardinal Griffin Catholic College are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to enhance our catering team.

The role will be to assist in the preparation and service of tasty and nutritious meals to pupils and staff under the direction of the Catering Manager.  Duties will include basic food preparation, cleaning duties and preparing counters whilst ensuring levels of hygiene are maintained within the kitchen.

Level 2 Food Safety qualification would be an advantage, or be willing to complete the qualification via an e-learning course provided.

Candidate should be able to communicate well both pupils and staff, a team player, flexible, capable of working under pressure and have a can-do attitude.   Relevant experience in either a catering or a school setting is desirable but not necessary as training can be provided.  You will also have experience of delivering excellent customer service and working as part of a team.

You must show a willingness to undertake training and to support the school's policies and procedures.

The College encourages applications from those of the Catholic faith, but it is not a barrier to appointment if candidates do not have that faith background provided they support the ethos of the College. We are extremely proud of our ethos which comes in very large part from our Jesuit Associate School membership and Catholic Diocesan heritage. This teaches us to be grateful for the gift of teaching that we have and to be generous in using it for the good of our pupils.

Closing date for applications is Monday 11 February 2022 at 12 noon.

The College reserves the right to close this post prior to the published deadline should it receive sufficient applications to pull together a good field of candidates. We therefore encourage candidates to submit early applications.

For an informal discussion about the role, candidates should contact Mrs Susan Burns on the College phone number.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings cautions and convictions in your application form.

Where the role involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children, candidates should note that it is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
