We are looking for people with the drive and ambition to make Sandwell's Vision 2030 a reality.

Democratic Services is a fast-paced area of work and you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective execution of decisions taken by or on behalf of the council.

The post holder will be responsible for administering and clerking various council committees, forums and panels, providing professional support to Members of the council, and leading on a project area directly supporting the successful delivery of the Law and Governance Business Plan. You will be expected to make a real impact through your personal contribution, both within the council and to the residents of Sandwell.

The ideal candidate should have a sound knowledge of local government, be a well organised administrator, have a good command of English, display energy and enthusiasm and have the ability to work as part of a team. The post holder will also need to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of political sensitivity.

Due to the current pandemic, the team are working from home with time in the office as and when required. The situation is kept under review in line with Covid-19 guidance.

Please note;

Due to the nature of this role you must be prepared to work outside of regular office hours.

The post is career graded and a full-time role however, we will consider candidates interested in job share or part time hours.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Educated to Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • At Band E: willingness to work towards and complete the ADSO Certificate in Democratic Knowledge (or equivalent).
  • At Band F: a Diploma in Democratic Knowledge (or equivalent).

37 hours per week
