Location: County Hall, Worcester
The Role:
Do you want to be part of a special service, one that touches people at the most important times in their lives? Then this post may be just what you are looking for.
The Registration service is more than births, deaths and marriages. Our Service includes work for the Home Office; Ministry of Justice, liaising with Health Services, Funeral Directors, legal providers, the clergy and so much more…
We make no apologies for providing excellence. Our standards are high. We deliver a service to the community, often at the most vulnerable times in their lives, so the need for integrity and professionalism is paramount. We need to be able to deliver the right service at the right time in people's lives, so a flexible approach to work is essential. Being part of our Service is demanding, rewarding and unique. Are you the person we are looking for?
We have a rare opportunity to offer Registration Officer posts to work within our Service. Registration Officer – Ceremonies - These posts will initially be to undertake ceremonies; registering and conducting weddings, civil Partnerships and other ceremonies which occur largely at weekends. Upon successful completion of training and undertaking of ceremonies, there is an opportunity for further progression, following assessment to become a Registration Officer, Births, Deaths and Marriages - undertaking registration of Births and Deaths and the taking of Notices of Marriages and Civil Partnerships, in addition to undertaking ceremonies.
All these roles are peripatetic posts and we will call you as and when we need you. You will need to be flexible and available to work, often at short notice to meet the statutory requirements and demands of the Service. For ceremonies, due to the nature of the job, emphasis is on weekend working, though there is an increasing demand for week day ceremonies. The busiest months are between March and October and you will therefore need to be able to offer consistent availability.
Bring your skills and qualities to our team and we will provide full training in all the technical aspects of the role. What skills are we looking for? Our person specification provides all the details, but our focus is how you would look after our community. The Service needs you to be able to empathise with people at key times in their lives; enjoy working with people and have the necessary confidence and presence to officiate at weddings and other ceremonies; be able to work with meticulous attention to detail; have excellent IT skills; be able to work under pressure, within tight deadlines and be able to easily make your way around the county. We can guarantee no two days will be the same!
