About Us

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service operates from 23 strategically located sites across Shropshire. The Service has 3 whole-time stations located in Shrewsbury, Telford and Wellington. On-call firefighters operate from 22 stations. The Service headquarters is in Shrewsbury and the Training Centre is in Telford.

A modern fire and rescue service also relies upon a talented team of support staff to help deliver the service the community expects. These roles are wide and varied and include Administration Support, Human Resources, ICT, Finance, Planning & Performance, Resources & Workshops, and Training & Development.

We are currently recruiting for an Information Systems Analyst to work in the Information Systems Team. You will be part of a team responsible for supporting, managing and maintaining information systems, including community and business fire safety, human resources and payroll, staff rotas, GIS data and capturing risk information. 

The role is principal liaison point between the application owners, users, ICT, application providers and other external agencies.  This is to ensure the computer application(s) meets business needs, is used to a high standard and its full potential. 

This role will involve:

• Managing the application to ensure it achieves business needs;
• Working with the business to ensure there is continuous development of the application;
• Support end users with the use and their knowledge of the application;
• Ensuring regular tasks and actions are completed to ensure application integrity;
• Generate management information reports using SQL;
• Being a point of contact with the end users and system supplier;
• Managing upgrades to the application;
• Working with the application provider and other Services who use the application to ensure we learn from others;
• Using Microsoft Office products including SharePoint, standard business software and emerging Power Platform apps, to support the business;
• Attending user groups.  

This role requires a working knowledge of Information Systems and to have IT skills to support that.  You must have experience of written and verbal communication and skills to support that.  You must be able to work with a logical and analytical approach to critically challenge current systems and processes. You will have a willingness to adapt and embrace new ways of working and work and actively engage with teams you support.
