Nuneaton and Bedworth are building a brand-new team to deliver a private sector housing services across Nuneaton and Bedworth and North Warwickshire that residents can rely on to keep them safe in their homes. This is a busy service with a wide range of responsibilities, including disrepair, HMO inspections and licensing, illegal evictions, and mobile homes licensing so you must be able to prioritise your work effectively. 

Senior EHO/Standards Officer £38,553 to £39,571 Per annum
To do this job you need to have significant experience in housing standards enforcement and of taking formal action against non-compliant landlords. You will know the legislation inside out and be confident in advising officers in complex cases and managing their performance to maintain the high standards expected from us.  

You must have either a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or an equivalent professional qualification.  You must also be HHSRS qualified and able to identify defects and recommend remedies in a wide range of domestic dwellings, including HMOs, to ensure health and safety hazards are dealt with.

EHO/Standards Officer £33,486 to £35,336 Per annum

This role involves inspecting properties and identifying defects and remedies. You will have good negotiating skills and be confident in your knowledge of the legal framework we work in.  You will be able to use a wide variety of legislation to remove health and safety hazards to make homes safer for the occupants. 

You must have either a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or an equivalent professional qualification. You will also need to be HHSRS qualified.

Technical Officer (Private Sector Housing) £26,446 to £27,514 Per annum

This role involves investigating complaints of poor private sector housing conditions and undertake inspections of private sector housing to assess potential hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)

This role involves preparing letters notices and schedules of work necessary to bring properties up to current statutory and Council standards and take appropriate enforcement action to secure improvements.

You will be expected to undertake inspections of HMOs and Mobile Homes sites in relation to the Council’s licensing functions. 

You will also be expected to give high quality advice to landlords to help them meet their obligations to provide a safe home for their tenants.

You must be HHSRS qualified and have experience of inspecting properties for defects and have a B TEC in Environmental Health or relevant building qualification or willingness to work towards relevant qualifications.
