Data Innovation Manager
The Performance Business Unit's overarching role is to provide effective transformational expertise and business intelligence to enable the redesign of the organisation, and give assurance that the Council’s outcomes will be delivered. One of our key outcomes is to make sure the organisation's decision making process is improved through the more timely provision of accurate business intelligence and insight which is relevant to the decisions being taken.

As the organisation enters another period of significant change, the ability to derive insight from our data will become even more important as we help inform transformation programmes and service redesign activity. The Data Innovation Manager will be responsible for leading the organisation's approach to the way we make better use of our information to drive improvement and decision-making processes. Leading the Data Innovation Team, the post holder will deliver a series of projects under the Better Use of Information programme and provide a ‘data lab’ environment, helping services resolve data management challenges and improving the way WCC utilises business data to derive insight. The team will also develop management information dashboards, provide a corporate GIS function and lead the delivery of a mechanism to draw the organisation's key intelligence datasets together into a single place.
The post holder will have considerable experience of working in a data and business intelligence function, along with the ability to lead a team of analysts. The post requires a blend of both technical expertise and data analysis and presentation skills. Experience of managing the use of specific tools such as GIS, information systems and management information dashboards will be required.
