An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Headteacher at Flax Hill Junior Academy. Our school is a three form entry school in Tamworth, Staffordshire and is oversubscribed in most year groups.  The school is well regarded in its local community, has very high staff retention and celebrates the whole child. The school has just been visited by Ofsted (Nov 21) and has again received a ‘very good’ the third good under its current Head Teacher and leadership team. This is a new post enabled by the school’s continuing rising numbers.

 

We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher with the energy and enthusiasm to play a key role in the strategic leadership and management of the academy alongside the Headteacher and Head of Schools. The post holder will need to have a strong working knowledge in teaching and learning in KS2 and be committed to all aspects of school life.

 

The right person for the job will be able to deliver high quality lessons while successfully nurturing and inspiring our children, meeting their individual needs and supporting everyone to be part of our mainstream, inclusive school; they'll be able to build professional trust as a senior leader of our dedicated team of teachers and support staff; they'll work well with our parents and community and they'll also have the confidence to lead the school when deputising for the head. This is a class-based role teaching KS2 with 0.2 release time for the Deputy Head role and PPA in addition to this time.

The successful applicant will:

 

  • Have QTS Be a good or outstanding teacher Have experience of supporting with the management of successful school self-evaluation, school improvement and accountability Have experience of leading and managing staff including building a successful team, delegating effectively and implementing and managing change

  • Demonstrate commitment to self and school improvement Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have high expectations of achievement and behaviour Be able to manage and work effectively in a team Be able to build positive relationships with parents
