Be Bold.  Be Birmingham.  These brand-new jobs in People Services are how we’re making things happen across the City.  The Council provides services to around one million people, and it’s Europe’s largest local authority.

Vibrant, courageous and resilient – that’s how we describe our City, and right now great things are happening that go way beyond the Commonwealth Games this Summer.  We’re proud of our heritage and we’re proud to be hosting the Games, and all that it represents, although there’s so much else to do.

Here’s what’s happening right now.  We’re transforming how we deliver services to our customers, and we’ve created a brand-new People Services team to support our colleagues in delivering services to the citizens of Birmingham.  We’re creating partnerships with networks and communities, as well as critical stakeholders to make change happen.  And we’re encouraging people like you, who thrive on change and complexity to join us.  We’ll take it for granted that you are courageous and inquisitive, as well as sensitive to others as they experience the impact of change on their roles.

Are you ready to create Recruitment solutions that exceed expectations?

Vibrant, courageous and resilient – that’s how we describe Birmingham and right now great things are happening that go way beyond the Commonwealth Games this Summer.  Are you ready to be part of the story?

Here’s what’s happening right now.  We’re transforming how we deliver services to our customers, and we’ve created a brand-new People Services team to support our colleagues in delivering services to our citizens.

Providing great opportunities for you to engage with Recruitment, Resourcing and Talent team colleagues and stakeholders from across the business, you’ll get excellent support to engage with candidates and put them front and centre of everything we do.  Ours is a brand-new team and we’re building a reputation to deliver innovative recruitment solutions that make a positive contribution.

An integral member of the team, these are just some of the activities we’ll engage you on:

  • Planning, then delivering recruitment campaigns based on market insight and in-depth understanding of candidate attraction strategies
  • Partnering key stakeholders to deliver the right people with the right skills at the right time
  • Helping to write engaging job adverts, candidate guides and content
  • Creating new routes to market based on innovative as well as “tried and tested” concepts
  • Analysing/creating Recruitment-focused management information from available data sets

We’ll take it for granted that you are an engaging communicator, enthusiastic collaborator and enjoy making evidence-based decisions and finding solutions.  It’s likely you’re courageous and inquisitive, as well as sensitive to others as they experience the impact of change.  We’ll make sure that we utilise and help you develop the Recruitment experience you bring.  We’re ready to hear about your strengths and experience.  Isn’t it time to tell us how you would contribute to making our Resourcing vision the reality?

When making your application, it may not be immediately obvious on the “apply” template that we also need a supporting statement (explaining how you meet the criteria outlined in the JD and person specification).  This is a recruitment system update need which is currently being addressed.  Please remember to upload the statement and answer the application questions.

If you have any specific questions about this role or how to apply, please address them to hrodtom@birmingham.gov.uk

Interviews for this post will take place virtually via video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.

Proof of Right to work in the UK will be required for all applicants in accordance with UK Home Office requirements, before any employment offer can be confirmed. Non-UK applicants (excluding Ireland) may need to apply for a visa from the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and may require a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council for a skilled worker visa (if the job is eligible).
