Dudley is making a significant investment in its procurement service with ambitions to become a sector leader amongst its peers. To modernise and transform the procurement service, we launched a innovative Procurement Improvement Programme (PIP) to revamp the service.

As Head of Procurement, you will be the professional lead for Procurement across the whole of Dudley MBC covering the lifecycle from identification of needs, implementation of the procurement strategy and process through to management of contracts.

You will be strategic and professional in your approach to the management of c.£300m pa of external spend, identifying and delivering significant savings, cost avoidance, social value and implementation of process efficiencies.

You will advise the council on all strategic procurement and contract management matters and act as the source of the Council’s procurement expertise, guiding on best-practice throughout. You will provide leadership to the Procurement team ensuring the appropriate professional standards are continually delivered, development plans in place and resources managed in line with the departmental budget.

Qualified to CIPS professional level or with extensive experience in a procurement discipline in the public sector, you will have proven Procurement, Category Management and Commercial skills and expertise of delivering improvements at scale. You will bring your significant experience of identifying and delivering significant savings in a complex political setting. In addition, you will have demonstrable leadership capabilities particularly within an improvement or change led environment.
