Birmingham Youth Service provides young people with enjoyable opportunities and challenging experiences together with information, support and guidance in order to enable them to achieve and develop their skills, abilities, self-esteem, values and identity in their transition to adult life. Most of our centres are in areas of high deprivation and therefore reach the most vulnerable. Birmingham Youth Service has 15 Youth Centre in Birmingham and works with young people aged 10 – 25 with the predominant age group being 13 – 19 years old. The Youth Service delivers targeted work as well as offering a universal service open to all young people.
These part time posts will be situated in our youth centres and surrounding areas. The job description is a generic job description in that we are looking for people who can work and relate to young people in a positive and meaningful way.
There are numerous posts - all these posts will primarily deliver between 14.30 – 22:00hrs with the average session being about 3 hours, However we do have a number of sessions for up to 20 hrs. Most settings will only deliver one session per evening therefore there may not be the opportunity to work on more than one session per day. You can choose to deliver on one session only or five sessions which means you would probably be working five night a week.
We are looking for people that can deliver youth work to young people in different settings and for some workers to have a specific skill or interest. These settings include; • Centre based provision – working in a youth centre. Some of this provision maybe specific for example single sex work, music group, sports group, junior club, projects, • Detached – working with young people outside e.g. streets , local park, on an estate, – wherever young people meet.

Detached posts are 18hrs per week Monday - Friday with each session being 3 hrs long, locations are:
City Centre, Aston, Erdington, Alum Rock, South Yardley, Kings Norton
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed workers that are passionate about delivering services to young people.
Birmingham Youth Service is a well-established provision in Birmingham delivering excellent service to young people through a staff team that are passionate and committed about young people and youth work.
We are looking for people who have experience in working with young people. Someone who has excellent communication skills and can relate well to young people in lots of different settings. You have to be motivated and committed and prepared to work unsociable hours including evenings.
Training will be provided if you have these skills.
