The Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) is an alliance of organisations working together to reduce violence within the West Midlands. We are seeking a Management Accountant to come and join the Unit, hosted by the Police and Crime Commissioner.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to work with the VRU that is working to prevent and reduce violence across the West Midlands. You need to have extensive experience of managing the production of monitoring reports & outturn forecasts. And be able to demonstrate ability to work with project leads to challenge and scrutinising forecasts / spending and to advise on appropriate courses of action in the light of variances from budget.

You will be skilled in developing effective financial management arrangements and evidence of implementing continuous improvement to process and procedures. You will have good knowledge of financial governance principles and systems such as Oracle financials. You will be able to work as part of the VRU’s senior leadership team to generate innovative value for money options, and/or delivering medium-term cost-effective business solutions. You’ll take responsibility for planning and monitoring revenue budget and for medium term financial and service planning, and support our delivery partners (mainly charitable organisations, of all sizes) in their sustainability planning.

You will be required to work as part of a local and a regional team, who are based in a range of multi-agency settings, along with an element of remote working. You must be able to work well with a range of professionals, building effective relationships in order to respond to the violence reduction partnerships strategic plans.  You will be expected to attend a range of multi-agency forums and meetings and be confident in presenting information verbally in those settings, as well as through the production of high-quality written reports.
