Monday – Friday for 4 hours per day, split shift 07:00-09:00/16:00-18:00 (20 hours per week)

52 weeks (Flexibility in the school holidays to do 4 hours a day together)

Holiday: 20 days (increasing to 25 after 4 years’ service) plus 9 bank holidays and 3 extra Council holidays (Total: 32 days)

We are currently looking for a reliable and conscientious care taker/handy person to join our reputable school in Kenilworth.

This is a permanent position which offers job security and the ability to make the role your own.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Opening and locking up of the premises.
  • Ensuring the site is safe and records are kept up to date
  • Carry out minor maintenance and repairs to buildings, fittings and furnishings.
  • Ensuring provision of a high-quality cleaning service by managing and supervising cleaning staff.
  • Ensuring that all areas, drains, gullies etc are inspected regularly to ensure clean and free-flowing.
  • Identifying damage and ensure action taken to repair or rectify
  • Ensuring preparation of rooms as necessary for school activities and events.
  • Conduct and report on informal site inspections, identifying defects, taking actions as necessary and making recommendations for improvement including the provision for school security.
  • Undertaking risk assessments relating to premises
  • Arranging for waste removal as necessary
  • Ensuring COSHH records are maintained and associated procedures are adhered to
  • Ensuring that procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering or major damage are carried and property documented and recorded
  • Ensure provision of emergency access to the building in the event of snow or minor flooding
  • Ensure that appropriate temperatures are maintained in the buildings and that a hot water supply is available.
  • Ensure frost protection measures are carried out
  • Ensure fire event records are maintained and ensure the testing, servicing andreplacement of equipment as required.
  • Ensure and maintain professional relationships with contractors, attending meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure that contractors on site adhere to the code of contact and monitor and record performance against standards and terms and conditions of the contract.
  • Ensure that appropriate H & S standards are met and maintained within the terms of the school’s health and safety policy.
  • Ensure the compliance with schools’ policies, e.g. health and safety, security, smoking and financial procedures.

To be considered you will have the below:

  • Previous experience in a role with responsibility.
  • Confidence in handy work and general property maintenance.
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive.
  • Committed to safeguarding and the well-being of children.
  • You will also need an enhanced DBS check.
