Principal Building Control Officer - Ref: EE00322
G10: £38,553 - £43,570 per annum
We are looking to appoint a Principal Building Control Surveyor to join our successful Building Control team here at Walsall.
We need a person who can balance and prioritise a varied caseload, work independently to tight time frames, and provide proficient support to their colleagues and management with the team. You must be organised, a good communicator and should already be working in a building control environment with several years’ experience and be IT literate with experience of relevant software applications.
To join our successful team you should be an enthusiastic Building Control Surveyor with significant experience of the Building Control function, including:
- Plan assessing domestic, commercial, and industrial building types for compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation within statutory time periods, and checking Building Notices for compliance with the Building Regulations.
- Inspecting building work on site to ascertain compliance with the Building Regulations
- The keeping of clear, concise and accurate records of plan assessments and site inspections.
- Investigating breaches of the Building Regulations and associated legislation and to take appropriate action including collating evidence, preparing reports and providing evidence in court as necessary.
- To help manage the Council’s response to dangerous structures both during normal working hours and outside normal working hours and take appropriate action to render safe any structures found to be in a dangerous conditions.
The successful candidate will hold a recognised construction qualification, and have or be looking to work towards membership of a professional body such as the RICS, CABE or CIOB.
