Job Details

Wolves at Work is an employment support and brokerage service, with a strong track record in Wolverhampton, providing support to residents to gain employment.  Over the past 5 years, Wolves at Work has moved over 6,000 people into work. Wolves at Work has now movedinto a new phase of delivery working as a Supply Chain partner with Serco to deliver the Government’s Restart programme to support unemployed residents  into work.  Wolves at Work will also be working as part of the government's Towns Fund programme to deliver job outcomes as part of the roll out of major capital programmes in the city.

In addition to the Wolves at Work team is the youth employment and skills support team, who work currently on the ESF Black Country Impact programme, for 16 to 29 year olds.

The job purpose is to ensure that sustainable employment opportunities are sought to meet the needs of employers and customers who are unemployed, particularly those who have been made redundant due to the consequences of the downturn in the economic situation in the UK as a result of the pandemic.  The postholder will work collaboratively with work coaches to ensure that people are job matched to the employment opportunities available.

This is a fixed term contract until 31 December 2025 in the first instance.

To provide a comprehensive Recruitment and Skills Brokerage Service for companies in Wolverhampton where they do not have the capacity or capability within the company to carry out interviews, selection and induction.

To proactively work with employers, sectors and intermediaries to increase the range and number of opportunities available for clients, including employment, apprenticeships, training and work experience placements.

To liaise closely with the Work Coaches to ensure that the employer requirements in terms of skills and employability match. 

To work with key partners including prime contractors, Job Centre Plus, internal teams, and Skills teams.

To be responsible for ensuring that individual targets are met, including Employment Engagement, Job Entries, Job Outcomes, Interviews and other associated linked key performance indicators.

To provide an ongoing service to the employer, this will include post-employment reviews.

To develop training and funding opportunities in conjunction with the wider Skills team, in order to deliver a varied suite of pre-employment training opportunities for ‘work-ready’ customers and employees of SMEs.

  • Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Sound understanding of provision and local providers that support apprenticeships, employability skills, pre-employment and workforce development
  • Proven success of working to improve skills and employability outcomes through a results-orientated approach
  • An understanding of the barriers in the demand and supply side for skills and methods for creatively overcoming these barriers
  • Ability to work collaboratively and supportively with employers 
  • Work effectively with colleagues from a wide range of organisations
  • Ability to relate effectively to young people and adults, including those facing substantial personal difficulties and barriers.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to suit work requirements
