Job Details

At Sandwell Council, we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our entire workforce.

Our approach to employee wellbeing has previously received national recognition within the public sector. With the impact of the Covid pandemic, we know that the wellbeing of our employees has never been more important.

We’re now looking for an exceptional person to become our dedicated Wellbeing Specialist, driving forward our ambitious wellbeing agenda and making sure it is at the heart of our organisation.

You’ll be a key member of our established, high-performing Occupational Health team. We’re looking for a caring, compassionate, confident and outgoing individual who has a passionate interest in Health & Wellbeing, making a real difference to individuals, teams and the organisation as a whole.

As part of our commitment, we have recently created a dedicated Wellbeing space at the Council House; ‘My Wellbeing Hub’, complementing our online resource. You will be responsible for making sure both the physical and virtual ‘Hubs’ reach their full potential; as invaluable resources for employee well-being, supporting the council’s on-going pro-active approach.

You will identify, develop, promote and deliver well-being initiatives and interventions, creating a diary of events that will maintain the focus on wellbeing. Your role will also include providing advice and guidance on a wide range of wellbeing topics to a variety of audiences, including mental and physical health. Experience of counselling or Mental Health First Aid would be a real advantage.

You’ll also help to inform the council’s ongoing approach to wellbeing by creating surveys and analysing data to help source and identify new wellbeing initiatives and resources.

This really is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a huge difference to our workforce and to establish employee wellbeing across the organisation.

If you would like more information or discuss the role further, please contact Mark Stanley at mark_stanley@sandwell.gov.uk

Our Values; Trust, Unity and Progress make us unique, they define how we do things and are reflected in the way we behave. They are important to us, guiding and shaping our organisational culture. Our values are key to us achieving Sandwell’s Vision 2030 and also guide us when we recruit.
