About Us

We are the Financial Assessment & Benefits Advice team based in Kings House, Bedworth. This is a busy team undertaking financial assessments to calculate charges for customers receiving care services following council policies and Government guidance. In addition, we provide welfare benefits advice and information to customers, helping them to maximise their income and be aware of help available

About the Role

We are looking for talented and motivated individuals to join the team as Finance Officer apprentices. You will be part of a busy team calculating care charges based on Government guidance, regulations and Council policies as well as providing advice and information in relation to charges. The role also involves verifying customer financial information, interpreting, and implementing guidance and policies to correctly calculate charges for care services, provide explanations to customers verbally and in writing as well as dealing with disputes and queries related to financial assessments.

Key Requirements

As you will be working with a variety of stakeholders, it is important you have good communication skills, both written and verbal. You need to be able to work on your own initiative as well as with the FABA team. Full training in all aspects of the role will be given, which, together with your IRRV studies, will develop your knowledge and experience.

Some aspects of the work will require working to deadlines, whilst always maintaining accuracy, composure, and a professional manner.  Again, you will be guided through all processes and requirements to ensure you feel confident and capable of delivering a good service.

Once you are comfortable the basic aspects of the role, you will then be introduced to more complex information, under the guidance of an experienced finance officer.

Whilst we welcome experience of using computer systems to input and obtain information along with Microsoft products, particularly Word and Excel, we will look to develop these skills, either within the team or in-house training courses.

An apprentice mentor will be allocated to you and they will also help with your learning and development.

The apprenticeship is the Level 4 Revenues and Benefits Welfare Practitioner apprenticeship, delivered by the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation - https://www.irrv.net/homenew/item.php?wid=68&iid=26322
