RoSA is a registered charity delivering high quality, specialist services for survivors of rape, sexual abuse and sexual violence. We are a team of professional people who are determined in our efforts to alleviate the distress experienced by victims, and to provide appropriate support to empower clients and to facilitate change. Our service supports adults, young people and children of any age and gender.

 

ISVA/ChISVA Job Description

We are seeking -

 

Two dedicated Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) to provide practical and emotional trauma-informed, client-led support to a diverse range of people who have experienced recent and non-recent sexual abuse A dedicated Children and Young Person’s Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ChISVA) to provide practical and emotional trauma-informed, client-led support to a diverse range of children who have experienced recent and non-recent sexual abuse. This support will include work with family members and others who have a role in supporting the child, for example, school and social services. ISVA/ChISVA provide support and advocacy to those who have experienced sexual abuse.

 

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

 

  • Effective management of a caseload, including interpersonal work with clients and other stakeholders, and adherence to robust and secure administrative procedures
  • Establishment of rapport and trust with individual clients, including accompanying them where necessary in specialist and/or multi-agency settings
  • Carrying out and reviewing risk assessments and creating and supporting appropriate support plans
  • Support of clients through the Criminal Justice System, explaining the procedures and their role and rights within the system
  • Provision of information and support in relation to Criminal Injuries Compensation
  • Ensuring that service users are aware of the services to which they are entitled and providing advocacy on their behalf
  • Development and maintenance of effective communication systems with key partners including the police, CPS, court service, social services, education, health care providers, housing organisations, Victim Support, Witness Service, voluntary sector organisations
  • Completion and maintenance of monitoring and evaluation material in relation to the service
  • Maintenance of client notes, electronic storage of information, and analysis of anonymised data to monitor agency performance and inform future strategies.

 

 

The successful applicant will have:

 

  • An understanding of the impact of sexual violence on individuals
  • Commitment to supporting the aims and objectives of RoSA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including in crisis management
  • Ability and willingness to work independently, in partnership and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of empathy and proactivity
  • Computer literacy including competence with Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues
  • Understanding of equal opportunity and gender equality
  • Willing to undertake training
  • Ability and willingness to make use of supervision
  • Commitment and ability to work within an anti-discriminatory, anti-oppressive way
  • A full clean driving licence and use of a car for business purposes is an essential criteria

Salary: £25,000-£26,000 per year; increment applicable on completion of ISVA training

Children and Young Person’s Counsellor

 

We are looking to recruit two Children and Young Persons counsellors to work with children and young people who have experienced or been affected by sexual violence. 

 

The Person and the role

The Children and Young People’s Counsellors primary role is to provide high quality 1:1 counselling to vulnerable children and young people in our outreach locations and in schools across Warwickshire. You will also be required to provide support, guidance and advice to parents/carers of the young people.

Ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of the children and young people at all times, this role requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, working effectively with the child and/or young person and all relevant professionals.

This role requires a certain degree of autonomy, therefore an organised approach that is child centred is needed. This role requires a mature and non-judgemental outlook with patience, tolerance and sensitivity.

 

Accountabilities and main responsibilities of the role

  • To plan and deliver one to one therapeutic counselling support to vulnerable children and young people
  • Counselling delivery will be a combination of online, face to face or telephone
  • To ensure the safeguarding of and to promote the welfare of children you are working with
  • To assess the need of the child and/or young person to deliver appropriate bespoke support
  • To liaise with relevant frontline professionals
  • To support parents/carers and family members
  • To ensure high quality delivery of support through regular clinical supervision and team reviews
  • To ensure that policies and procedures are complied with and to contribute to any necessary reviews as required
  • To complete regular safeguarding training
  • To follow reporting procedures to ensure the child’s/young person’s welfare is always paramount
  • To ensure compliance with regulatory and RoSA’s policies and procedures
  • Take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research and developments which may lead to improvements in RoSA’s counselling service
  • To contribute to staff and volunteer meetings, recruitment and training activities when required.

 

 

The job description is a general outline of the job duties and responsibilities and may be amended as the role develops. This post will consist of other duties that may well be reasonably required from time to time.

 

Job related Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • A recognised professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Psychotherapy/ Art Therapies/ Counselling) to at least postgraduate level
  • Further training or qualification in working with children and young people (additional training will be given)
  • An understanding of the development, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people
  • An awareness of range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds
  • Knowledge/awareness of the Children's Act and legislation pertaining to children and young people
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to confidently build and maintain relationships with all relevant external professionals
  • Have experience of managing own caseload
  • A creative and flexible approach
  • Able to work on your own initiative and be a flexible team player
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of the trauma of sexual abuse on a child / young person and their family Committed to respecting and maintaining the confidentiality and privacy required by clients and significant others, able to maintain clear professional and personal boundaries Have computer literacy skills and have some experience of working with data bases

A full clean driving licence and use of a car for business purposes is an essential criteria Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check
