Job purpose To assist the council in carrying out its function as a Local Planning Authority, including statutory plan making and development management duties, as appropriate.

 

Main accountabilities

  1. Process all aspects of planning and associated applications.
  2. Provide strategic planning and development management advice to Developers, Elected Members, colleagues and other stakeholders in relation to planning matters.
  3. Carry out development management and planning enforcement activities in accordance with town and country planning and associated legislation.
  4. Produce written statements and give evidence, on behalf of the council, at planning appeals/examinations (including hearings and public inquiries) in relation to planning matters.
  5. Carry out all relevant consultation and engagement on planning matters with internal and external stakeholders, including elected Members, consultees, representatives of other local authorities, Parish Councils and local communities.
  6. Prepare and present reports and other relevant information to elected Members and senior management in accordance with the Council’s constitution, including at Planning Committee, Executive and Scrutiny Commission.
  7. Assist in the preparation and review of planning policy documents.
  8. Develop partnership working with relevant stakeholders in relation to both strategic planning and development management matters.
  9. Prepare delegated reports in relation to planning matters, making recommendations as appropriate, in accordance with the Council’s constitution.
  10. Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of planning policies and produce statistical information.
  11. Comply with the requirements of the council’s data quality management policy, the officers' code of conduct, financial and contract rules and procedures, and with corporate personnel policies and practices, particularly absence management, health and safety and equalities.
  12. Undertake such duties as are appropriate to your grade and hours of work as      may reasonably be required of you by your line manager.
