An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious qualified accountant to support a progressive Council in meeting a range of challenges.

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner who will be responsible for leading a team to provide strategic advice and support the maintenance and development of the Council’s medium term financial strategy and revenue budget co-ordination.

As a Finance Business Partner you will lead a Business Partnering Team and reporting to the Chief Accountant, work closely with all senior stakeholders to ensure best use of limited financial resources, providing the financial insight, intelligence and support.  Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Directors in ensuring effective management of financial resources, to ensure probity, efficiency, high performance and overall value for money.
  • Leading and directing the delivery of a high performing, customer focused finance service to the Council
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Directors and their Management Team. Identifying their needs as Strategic Financial Services customers and ensuring such needs are met
  • Maintaining and developing the Council’s medium term financial strategy
  • Driving the delivery of productivity and efficiency improvement and cost reduction plans within Directorates, in accordance with the Council’s medium term financial strategy

To be suitable for the role you will be CCAB qualified with experience of relationship / stakeholder management at Director level. You will have excellent presentation and communication skills both written and oral with the ability to understand and disseminate complex and detailed technical and professional issues. You will be systematic, have good analytical skills and be able to establish and continue good working relationships and work effectively as part of at team

The Job Description is a generic one for the Finance Business Partner reflecting the wide range of roles and responsibilities across all of these senior officers within Strategic Finance.  The focus of this role will be on the revenue budget co-ordination and medium term strategy as well as providing strategic advice and support to a number of Directorates across the Council.
