Midlands Connect have a brand new role for a Governance and Framework Support Officer to support management with the smooth running of the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the future planning for the East and West Midlands and make sure that Midlands Connect are successful in their delivery and decision making.

You will be a dynamic, organised and proactive individual who has an abundance of experience in administration including document management, development of file structures and archiving. This is a varied role where you will also provide some secretarial support and a high standard of customer service to stakeholders and staff.

Midlands Connect work for the leaders of the local authority and it will be your responsibility to keep everyone in check and make sure that everyone knows what they are doing. You will need to make sure that all governance and framework reporting is transparent and is in accordance with policies and procedures. An understanding of governance is key for this role.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the effective procedural and administration of Midland Connect Boards and groups including reporting arrangements
  • Support the Principal Governance and Framework Manager to provide a comprehensive Governance framework, ensuring efficient and effective governance processes and up to date documentation
  • Support arrangements to provide a full secretariat service to the Midlands Connect Partnership
  • Support the management and implementation of the Midlands Connect Specialist Technical procurement framework, ensuring procedural compliance and documentation management
  • Attend meetings, taking minutes/actions as required to ensure accurate and concise records of meetings and actions and production of minutes for consideration within agreed timescales
  • Monitor and manage Midlands Connect external email accounts ensuring that emails are logged and actioned accordingly, coordinating responses as appropriate
  • Manage work volumes, self-delegating tasks and allocating/tracking work using agreed processes

Midlands Connect is the transport partner of the Midlands Engine, a coalition of Councils, Combined Authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Universities, and businesses across the region, actively working with Government to add value for the whole of the Midlands and its communities. The team research, develop and recommend long-term transport projects which will provide the biggest possible economic, social and environmental benefits for the Midlands and the rest of the UK.

WMCA acts as the accountable body for the Midlands Connect partnership and is a core pillar of the Midlands Engine ‘Vision for Growth’. 

About you

You will be highly organised, proactive, reliable and a TEAM PLAYER!!

Experience dealing with external stakeholders and suppliers is essential and you will be a strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.

You will need to be proficient on Microsoft Office and be able to work independently and use your own initiative to get the job done.  

Minute taking experience would be desirable.
