Behaviour Support Assistant

Maternity cover to start July/September 2022

The Behaviour Support Assistant will support and develop behaviour for learning through effective supervision of the school’s Behaviour Support Room, instigate appropriate restorative justice conversations and maintain accurate records of behaviour events. They will support students to reflect on their experiences and to write statements about difficult events that have occurred during the day. 

This post would suit applicants who have a clear understanding of how to deal with learning or behavioural issues in young people and an ability to support and engage students appropriately. The candidate will be able to use effective emotional intelligence and communication skills to help students to reflect on, and learn from, challenging situations.

They will be disciplined enough for students to understand the seriousness of their mistake and yet sensitive enough to identify possible triggers and underlying reasons for poor behaviour.

Working hours are 37 per week, term time plus 5 staff learning days: 39 weeks per year. (4 days per week will also be considered for those seeking a part time opportunity).

Salary will be paid at Band G, £22,129 to £24,920 pa pro-rata: starting point depending on experience and qualifications.

Salary for actual hours worked is calculated at £19,086 to £21,493 per annum subject to any continuous service.
