Agile working (Minimum 40% office based)

We are seeking an experienced and creative project manager to support the delivery of a range of property projects including the redevelopment of a leisure centre and an arts centre.

This is a very hands-on role and you will lead on specific projects including preparing Board reports, engaging and instructing consultants, architect and other property professionals, carrying out public consultation, appointing contractors and acting as the principle point of contact for the scheme.

The Council also has a goal of decarbonising its leisure estate and you will have a leading role in delivering that objective. Securing external funding will be part of the role and you will work closely with our leisure centre managers to minimise the impact of works on the service.

A good level of construction knowledge is essential for this role and you will need to work within requirements of CDM ensuring compliance with the regulations. Also be comfortable in making planning applications and working with a wide range of property professionals and stakeholders.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering the Council's values of great customer service, openness and accountability, innovation and improvement and fairness and respect.

As an employee you will be responsible for championing and demonstrating the Council’s Leadership Behaviour Framework by inspiring, communicating, collaborating and empowering self and others and leading by example.

Wychavon District Council has a track record of delivering a range of major property projects and there will be many opportunities in the future to bring forward schemes which support the community. You will have the opportunity to help deliver these schemes and identification of new opportunities for the Council.

Key Requirements:

  • Manage, support and deliver projects and work packages to agreed project standards.
  • Produce, and manage relevant documentation and project plans to a range of internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that projects deliver to Time, Cost, and Quality
  • Lead projects within the Wychavon District Council and with partner organisations as required.
  • You will need to have 3-5 years’ experience of project management in a construction, estate management or property development role.
  • A sound knowledge of construction legislation and processes.
  • Car driver with access to own vehicle at all times.

Skills & Experience:

A degree level qualification in a construction discipline; or an advanced Project Management qualification such as Prince 2, APM, ICE Membership or similar; or 5 years construction or property development experience in lieu of the degree level qualification.

You will need good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work with a range of property professionals and stakeholders.

Previous experience of writing complex reports to Board is desirable

Working with you

Our staff are at the heart of what we do, and as a result we are always looking to recruit and develop the very best talent we can find.  That's why, as well as providing a satisfying job, we offer a range of attractive benefits, such as agile working for the majority of roles, generous holiday entitlements, a pension scheme, plenty of opportunities for personal development, and discounted gym membership.

We value skills and an ability to do a great job over identifying personal information and that’s why we anonymise all our recruitment until we reach interview stage. What you can offer us and how you will uphold our values and behaviours is really important to us and that’s what we look for during our recruitment process.

Our staff are our driving force, and it’s important our workforce reflects the communities we serve. More than 50% of our Senior Management Team is female, as is the majority of our Heads of Service.

We are a member of the Disability Confident Scheme and support the movement of change, to think differently about disability and apply this to how we recruit, retain and develop disabled people.

We value all our staff and are committed to eliminating unlawful discrimination, promoting equality of opportunity, and fostering good relations between people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
