We have a fantastic and exciting opportunity for the right people who wants to make a difference to young people and adults in the Dudley Disability Service.

Dudley Council is committed to ongoing improvement and achieving excellence.  As a result there has been a recent focus on the Dudley Disability Service which has led to a remodel of the service and an increased emphasis on strength-based practice, preparing for adulthood, independent living, and high risk and complex care needs.

We have a new head of service and new management within the service that is shaping a new direction.  The service has a clear focus on positive life outcomes for all adults: opportunities to succeed in education and work; to live independently and healthily; to have relationships and friendships; and to be included and involved in their communities. Raising aspirations for disabled adults and those around them, as well as providing integrated, forward-thinking support, is critical for them to achieve their goals and have choice and control over their lives.  

There is a recognition that to achieve this we need staff that feel supported, listened to and valued.  We see supporting our staffs professional development by  embracing flexible working, growing a learning and development culture within the service and a commitment to staff welfare is helping us to achieve this.

An exciting opportunity is now available for an Assistant Team Manager within the Duty and Assessment cluster in Dudley Disability Service. This service supports people with a range of disabilities who require ongoing co-ordination of their care and support needs or who have a level of complexity to their needs that require specialist intervention. We are committed to meeting the needs of our customers, delivering a personalised quality service, promoting independence, choice, control, inclusion and achieving resolution.

 

The Role

Hours: 37.00 per week  Salary: Grade 11

We are a busy and dynamic team, looking for a full time  Duty & Assessment Assistant Team Manager who:

Is a strong team player and can work in partnership with other Assistant Team Managers to lead, inspire and motivate the team.

With their expert knowledge of adult social care, provide support and works with the team to deliver a strength-based approach to assessment and support planning.

Understands the importance of having strong oversight of Safeguarding activity within the team.

Is a leader that can lead the team to meet urgent calls/tasks and mitigate risks and crisis.

Is a leader that is passionate about high staff performance, has experience of coaching staff and supporting them with their continuous professional development.

Is a clear communicator who is able to provide leadership and direction to staff as appropriate through application of positive language.

 

Key Requirements:

What you need to succeed:

A strong ethic towards excellence. We need an individual who takes ownership, constructively challenges boundaries/processes where they cause blockages, and is not afraid to have difficult conversations.

Previous experience working in an Adult Social Care setting, with individuals who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Physical Disability, and Acquired Brain Injury – this is not an essential requirement.

A strong ability to plan, prioritise and deliver to tight timescales, responding flexibly and positively to change and work effectively under pressure.

Leadership skills. Management and supervisory experience are preferable.
