The post holder will provide a confidential administrative and advice support service for HR,  implementing the council’s HR policies, procedures and reporting services that underpin a modern forward thinking council.

Key duties will involve working with the team to address HR-related queries and be an administrator for HR-related documentation, including contracts, recruitment and on boarding. You will also develop our processes and support development of our systems to work towards continuous improvements in our service delivery, including roll out of the My View Payroll system. It is a wide ranging role in a busy team, giving you opportunity to develop your experience across HR as well as supporting the Being a Better Council change programme.

We operate a flexible hybrid working approach in delivery of our services. Part -time working will be considered. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Already have technical HR experience across HR disciplines, particularly payroll, contracts, onboarding and HR systems. 
  • Up to date with best practice and emerging thinking  in digital technology.
  • High level of familiarity with business software such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Word and payroll/HR systems
  • Experience of working under pressure and to deadlines.
  • A good team player

Essential Skills & Behaviours:

  • Must demonstrate, understanding of the demands of a busy HR service with conflicting demands on time. Adapt positively to changing work priorities and patterns when tasks need to be done or change is required.
  • Be able to demonstrate problem solving skills, be able to question and display active listening skills to understand an issues root causes before offering solutions.
  • Be able to demonstrate opportunities to improve office & systems performance and service, support HR Changes / projects.
  • Be able to take initiative and to plan and organise work, often without supervision. 
  • Demonstrate appropriate confidentiality at all times, and have the ability to challenge when appropriate. Show integrity by doing the right thing.
  • Be able to deal effectively with customers / colleagues, through a variety of media, phone, face to face email, internet.
  • Evidence the ability to review / analyse / input data with a high degree of accuracy.
