An opportunity has arisen to join our Partnership Team to lead and deliver the Private Sector Housing function and relevant partnerships.
The Private Sector Housing Officer role is an opportunity for an enthusiastic confident person with good communication skills to take the lead on this high-profile front-line role.
You will need to be equally comfortable working independently or with both internal and external partners and have good negotiation skills, legislative knowledge and personal resilience.
Undertaking a wide variety of duties, you will lead in the work around improving housing conditions and standards across all private sector housing – both rental and owner occupied, delivering initiatives, projects and policies that contribute to positive housing and wellbeing outcomes for residents.
Areas of responsibility include:
- Responding to disrepair complaints
- Licencing and maintaining standards in Houses in Multiple Occupation
- Public health and certain nuisance issues in regard to residential properties
- Offering advice and education to tenants, landlords, agents, the public and colleagues around a diverse range of issues including property standards and compliance issues, tenancy rights, harassment/illegal eviction and empty properties
- Development of a Landlord Forum
- Initiating and progressing proportionate and relevant enforcement actions to ensure compliance
Ideally you will already hold either a relevant degree, a surveying/building /HHSRS qualification or be able to demonstrate significant experience (3 years) in producing formal /technical documents and legal notices to a professional standard in either housing or related environmental /public health field.
This is a hybrid working contract, there is a requirement for some of duties to be carried out at home and some on site. Site attendance will constitute more than 40% of available working time.
