The Vice Principal, for Student Services, under the direction of the Principal, will have a strategic overview of behaviour, attitudes, attendance, inclusion, safeguarding and SEND (including all key groups).

You will work to develop an inclusive, tolerant and positive culture in the Academy that underpins good standards of behaviour and attendance throughout, leading to the best possible outcomes for all students. Developing an ethos of high expectations for staff and students and leading on ensuring student welfare, personal development, attendance and inclusion is a priority for all staff, you will develop and model our strategy and be relentless in our pursuit of excellence.

You will be a front-foot person with a clear vision and understanding about what outstanding looks like and you will be able to communicate this vision to all stakeholders. You will need to be a dynamic, inspirational and ambitious leader with the determination and innovative drive to raise standards and ensure all students secure the best possible outcomes to enable them to progress further. 

The Vice Principal we are looking for will:

  • Ensure that the achievement gaps between different groups of students decline year on year, including those students in receipt of the Pupil Premium.
  • Ensure that the Academy meets its target for students’ attendance and progress - to be reviewed annually as part of the Academy’s appraisal cycle
  • Line manage SEND team, student services team (pastoral and inclusion teams), personal development/character education team.
  • Be an inspirational, creative and outstanding leader who is able to motivate young people and staff.
  • Be a hardworking, imaginative thinker and have excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Be able to go the ‘extra mile’ to make a difference to raise aspirations and transform the lives of our students. 
  • Have personal authority, communication, and organisational skills to lead and manage effectively and with impact.
  • Have successful experience of visioning, planning and implementing change at department or whole school level.
  • Have outstanding knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the statutory requirements on schools.
