Tree Officer – Operational (OSS154)

37 hours per week
Band H (SCP 24 – 28) - £29,174 - £32,798 per annum.

We are looking for an experienced arboricultural professional to assist in the management of Council owned trees whilst delivering the Service Level Agreements for the maintenance of the Council’s tree stock. You will be responsible for appropriate risk management and giving specialist advice across the Council and to external stakeholders.

You must be willing to undertake a wide range of duties that are not directly related to the technical area of arboriculture, for example: financial management, general administration, database interrogation and information retrieval and manipulation of large amounts of data within Excel.

The successful post holder will have strong experience of working in town-based areas, ideally in carrying out tree inspections, surveys, diagnosis of faults/diseases and specifying remedial works.

You’ll have good working knowledge of tree legislation, decay detection equipment and communication skills, and will be able to engage and understand the perspectives of a range of stakeholders (both within the Council and Stafford’s wider communities) that feed into the delivery of liveable places. You’ll have the ability to physically carry out work in relation to the emergency call out system and respond in a calm and systematic way to urgent or emergency situations.

We are keen to help team members develop and are looking for a positive individual with personal drive and initiative who wants to learn and improve to join our team.

Duties

- To undertake tree condition surveys and detailed tree inspections.
- To provide quotations, reports and technical support to colleagues, customers and clients as required.
- To undertake ad-hoc and programmed inspections of the trees, entering data onto a computerised system and where necessary specifying remedial works.
- Support the operational team to generate sales and support the estimating team with tenders.
- Complete regular adhoc quality and safety audits to support the operations team in ensuring compliance with industry best practice, guidelines, and regulations.
