Lightwoods Primary Academy is part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust and is situated in Oldbury, Sandwell, in the West Midlands.

We are a well-established two form entry primary school, with the lower school at Clent Road and the upper school a short distance away at Castle Road.

We are looking for a warm, forward-thinking teacher who can lead our EYFS (reception class, 60 children) and oversee our sister provision in Tinywoods Nursery. You will be part of the senior leadership team and you will be well supported to lead improvement, develop and grow.

We look for several main things in our staff – people who have a warm personality, people that have an inner drive to constantly improve, who engage with educational research and innovation, and those teachers that are superb practitioners.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • In partnership with the Principal and SLT, establish and implement an ambitious, world class vision and ethos for the future of the academy
  • Work with the Trust Early Years Lead to deliver the aspirational and innovative approach to Early Years
  • Develop and ensure effective, quality transition into and out of Early Years
  • Be an excellent role model, exemplifying a high standard of teaching, and promoting high expectations for all
  • Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of what makes an Early Years provision outstanding in practice and outcomes
  • Be able to draw upon research and awareness of excellent practice 
  • Fully support the development of a working ethos which enables everyone to work collaboratively, share knowledge and understanding, celebrate success and accept responsibility for outcomes 
  • Be able to lead a team of teachers and support staff by creating, maintaining and enhancing effective relationships with the ability to challenge, empower, inspire and motivate others 
  • Understand the New Early Years Framework and keeps abreast of the latest developments in early years’ practice, educational research and initiatives.
  • Acknowledge the responsibilities and celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams 
  • Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others 
  • Regularly review own practice, set personal targets and take responsibility for own professional development
  • Encourage others and forge a great team spirit and sense of collegiality by creating a positive ethos and working environment
