Job Summary

To deliver high quality and innovative sports coaching sessions both within and beyond the curriculum to pupils in all phases of the school at our after school groups.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsibility for high quality provision and standards during sports coaching
  • Working with your Line Manager and other support staff to evaluate the impact of provision and planning for further development
  • Ensuring appropriate links to other relevant areas of the curriculum health & safety; personal well-being; team work; turn-taking; taking responsibility; negotiation; conflict resolution; leadership skills; consideration of others etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum for PE for children aged 3 – 11 years
  • Use of new technology as and when required
  • Immediately report all accidents or injuries to a qualified First Aider and the School Business
  • Manage and complete any relevant report forms
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records of those attending sessions and to ensure that these are regularly reported as requested
  • Work alongside the team to promote positive play at the afterschool club including leading/organising play activities for all children
  • Development and delivery of high quality extra-curricular opportunities
  • Attending meetings as and when required
  • Act as an advocate for young people with the school, Parents/Carers and other agencies.
  • Become familiar with and implement staff codes of conduct and relevant school policies including those for child protection, equal opportunities, inclusion and behaviour
  • Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post to assist the school in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder's salary grade, abilities and aptitudes.
  • The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities with due regard to the schools policy, organisation and arrangements for Health and Safety at Work.

Note: There may be the opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake additional opportunities and experiences at Meadow Green School that will support applications for initial teacher training / PGCE applications.
