About the role
Are you interested in working with data and digital information to improve outcomes in a Highways-related setting? Do you value a challenge, enjoy learning new things and want to work in a team with a varied range of roles and responsibilities?
The Highway Data team is central to much of the data created, improved and managed concerning the County’s highway network, in partnership with other work areas including Amey. Its functions include a variety of data creation, analysis and improvement activities, concerning Traffic Data, adopted Highway Extent records, asset management and the National Street Gazetteer.
We are looking to offer one permanent position and the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day support, improvement and management of the data held in the county’s National Street Gazetteer, and the interpretation and determination of the extent of the public highway using a range of data sources. Tasks include data validation, liaison with District Councils and other interested bodies, reviewing and understanding national standards, understanding and using data from various sources including databases, GIS, spreadsheets, maps and plans, and digitising new spatial data to provide plans showing public highway extent.
What you’ll bring
To succeed, you will work well in a team and on your own, having excellent communication skills. You should be resilient, highly motivated and demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You will be able to deal with a range of conflicting demands whilst remaining calm under pressure. Some basic understanding of using databases, reading maps and plans and using GIS (Geographical Information Systems) will be an advantage.
