Job Details

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who is keen to learn, has a “can do” attitude, and who will be a passionate ambassador for the charity.

About us
The Heart of England Forest is an exciting and ambitious charity working hard to create a huge new woodland in the heart of the country that will benefit people and wildlife for generations to come.

We take our mission very seriously; it has never been more important to invest in our natural environment.  Planting trees and creating new woodlands is no longer just a positive ambition for the country, it’s absolutely essential. It is the simplest solution to help mitigate climate change and create new green spaces that can help reconnect people and communities with nature and the natural environment.

Our goal is to reach 30,000 acres of semi contiguous forest by planting 13 million native broadleaf trees. To date we have planted more than 2 million trees.  The significance and scale of our work cannot be underestimated: The Heart of England Forest - already the largest new native broadleaf forest in the country – will become one of the largest forests in the UK.

If you share our ambition, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us.  The charity is a rewarding place to work and offers its staff a number of benefits.

Please visit our website to download a job description / person specification and an application form. Please note that CVs will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application form.

About the role

This new role is ideal for both a candidate with some administration experience looking for a new challenge, or someone looking to take their first steps into a charity administration role, be that as their first job or as a career change. This varied and versatile role with England’s largest new native forest is not fully office based and will grow and develop with the right candidate looking to help further engage the public in the work of the Heart of England Forest.

As part of your professional development, we are excited to be able to offer this opportunity with an option to gain a business administration apprenticeship Level 3 qualification over a 12-18 month period.

This role will be supporting the Community Engagement Manager to assist with a wide range of administration tasks, events and practical activities.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, comfortable working outdoors, with an enthusiasm and commitment to customer service. They must be keen to learn and have a “can do” attitude; and be a passionate ambassador for the charity.

Planting tomorrow’s great native woodland

The Heart of England Forest is an exciting and ambitious charity. We want to help reverse centuries of woodland decline and plant one of the largest forests in England. Our goal is to create a huge, unbroken woodland – a refuge from the modern world where people can rediscover nature and wildlife can flourish. It’s an ambitious vision, which we’re determined to make happen, one tree at a time.

The Heart of England Forest is not only a perfectly positioned lung for the Midlands, but a breath of fresh air for the nation. With over two million new native trees planted so far, we are restoring our native woodland – providing a safe and permanent habitat for wildlife as well as an escape for people from the urban environments surrounding it.

The Forest stretches up the Warwickshire / Worcestershire border, from the present-day borders of Shakespeare’s Forest of Arden to the edge of the Vale of Evesham – the north Cotswolds to south Birmingham. It’s an area dense in cities, towns and industry. Which is why we’re creating a place to walk under shady canopies and through airy glades, away from the bustle of city life.

The UK has less than a third of the native tree cover of many other European countries, including France, Germany and Italy. Planting tomorrow’s great native woodland has already started. With 7,000 acres of land, the Forest currently consists of 600 acres of mature woodland and almost 4,500 acres of new planting. We have planted an incredible 2 million trees so far, that’s over 23% of the way towards our goal of a 30,000-acre forest. But with patience and your support, who knows how far it will grow!
