We are recruiting for 2 vacant posts of Welfare and Financial Assessment Officers and are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team.

Job requirements:

  • Experience of providing a high level of customer service in writing, face to face and by phone
  • Ability to manage priorities and organise own workload to meet deadlines as well as those of the wider team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of working with vulnerable customers
  • Awareness of Welfare Benefits, working knowledge of Housing Benefit and Universal credit would be advantageous but not essential

Duties:

  • Assess claims for Discretionary Housing Payments and Council Tax Discretionary Reduction payments
  • Use discretion to identify vulnerable customers who may be suffering extreme financial hardship or other specific issues and signpost to partner agencies where further support is required.
  • Provide advice and support to vulnerable customers who are relocated or resettled due to war or other refugee programmes.
  • Participate in proactive initiatives, project and development work as required, including take-up and advice campaigns and job fairs.
