A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Workforce and Skills Development Officer to join the Economic Growth service at a time where we are working to generate increased economic productivity and to maximise the full potential of the assets and opportunities in Shropshire. The vision of the Economic Growth service is to create and deliver an environment for sustainable and focused growth in Shropshire and in doing so support a step change in economic productivity and employment opportunities for local people over the coming years.
The role will focus on managing a cohesive programme of engagement with both businesses and education and training providers, including identified key accounts working to offer suitable business support and gather intelligence that is actioned/responded to. You will also act as a key point of contact with inward investment enquiries, identifying internal and external support available to grow workforces within new businesses as well as supporting with engagement with skills providers from across the public and private sector, exploring ways to develop curriculum to support business needs locally.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of project development, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge of economic growth and challenges and opportunities facing businesses, specifically focused on recruitment, retention, upskilling and employment growth will also be important.
You will need to be adaptable, tenacious, positive, resilient and well-organised, with the ability to manage a busy workload and produce high quality work to tight deadlines.
Part of a small but busy team, you will play an important role in supporting business, skills engagement and attracting inward investment into the county.
