Elmwood School is an expanding Local Authority SEMH school in the leafy suburb of Rushall in Walsall. The school has 73 mixed 11-16 year olds on roll split into three discreet areas.

We offer a wide and personalised curriculum catering for a range of abilities up to and including GCSEs / BTEC’s. We are looking for innovative people who are capable of establishing positive relationships working with young people with complex needs. You must have high expectations, flexibility and resilience. We are currently seeking a Level 4 apprentice to train as a Family Support Worker in our school.  This post will be Monday to Friday, term time only (32.5 hours per week) plus 5 training days.  The apprenticeship period will be for 24 months.

You must have:

•       GCSE Maths and English; L2 Functional Skills or valid exemption

•       A positive attitude

•       Resilience

•       Willingness to work with challenging pupils

•       Be physically fit and capable of implementing the principles of Team Teach (Physical Interventions) – once suitably trained

•       The ability to drive, or the desire to learn to drive upon completion of the course.

  • Good computer skills

You will need to understand and comply with the general requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act, 1974, and be prepared to attend training courses, if appropriate.
