Summerbank Primary Academy wish to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our hardworking and committed team.

The successful candidate will:

  • understand the principles of child development, learning processes and barriers to learning
  • be committed to raising standards hold a relevant NVQ Level 2 or above have high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour, whilst also having an understanding of the causes of behavioural difficulties understand the importance of having a nurturing approach towards vulnerable pupils
  • be able to work as a member of a team, developing good working relationships with pupils and adults
  • use their own initiative while working independently
  • Be able to communicate well with children, teachers and parents
  • Be able to plan and implement (under guidance) effective strategies for pupils with a range of needs (learning, language, behavioural, emotional, social needs)
  • Support all children with their learning including children with Special Educational Needs or other key groups
  • Be an excellent practitioner
  • Be adaptable and spontaneous
  • Will show a willingness to contribute to wider school life
