Job Details

The homelessness prevention team provides the statutory safety net for people who are homeless.

The team works with a broad range of service users to help them to take the steps necessary to secure an maintain accommodation.

The team works within the legislative framework of the Housing Act 1996.

We are a large team and the job is busy and pressurised. Its as challenging as it is rewarding and no two days are the same.

 

 

 

You will be based partly within refuge and partly on site with the homelessness prevention team, working with both services to help those in refuge or in temporary accommodation who have experienced domestic violence or a threat of domestic violence.

You will work with this group of people to ensure that they are safe and to make sure that if that the best solution, in their circumstances, is identified.

You will work with this group to identify and overcome any barriers to housing.

You will work closely with refuge staff to help people already in refuge to move on and to secure accommodation.

The successful applicant will be working in an emotive environment, working with applicants who may have lived through traumatic experiences.

You will need to manage a case load, so with need to be IT proficient. 

You will need to demonstrate a knowledge of housing and homelessness law.

You will need a good understanding of welfare benefits.

You will need good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate in writing to a good standard.

You will need to be resilient, organised and able to negotiate solutions with a range of services and professionals.

For this vacancy there is a need to only accept applicants from a particular protected characteristic.
